# Introduction

## What is Koo

**Host your apps free, for life.** Koo deploys your apps onto Koo's hosting layer, keeps them running with live [logs](/docs/observability/logs), [metrics](/docs/observability/metrics), and rollback, and gives every app a public page so you can show the world. Deploy from a container image today — Git and AI deploys are on the way.

## Free, for life

Every account gets a free web service plus a free [Postgres](/docs/data/postgres) database and a free [Redis](/docs/data/redis) cache — 0.5 vCPU and 1 GiB each, forever, with no credit card and no trial clock. Upgrade a service and the free share still applies — see [the free tier](/docs/get-started/free-tier) for how the allowance works.

> **Note:**
>
> Everything in the free tier is yours forever. It is not a trial: the free services never expire, and they never require a card.

## Deploy any way

Bring a container image and Koo ships it: point a service at the image and you get a live URL, an immutable deployment, and rollback.

## No lock-in

Your apps run on open, standard runtimes from a container image you control — nothing here holds your work hostage. Your images and code stay yours to move anywhere, and you can [export your account data](/docs/account/data-export) at any time.

## Show the world

Every public app gets a showcase page with [discovery, upvotes, comments, and follows](/docs/showcase/discovery-and-community). Your account doubles as a public [profile](/docs/showcase/your-profile) that others can follow, and each [app page](/docs/showcase/app-pages) is a shareable home for what you build.
