# Delete your account

(Coming soon)

Self-service deletion will live in your settings, with two scopes:

-
-

Until this ships, contact [support](https://koo.io/support) to request deletion.

## The grace period

Confirming a deletion will never remove anything immediately. Instead, everything pauses: services stop, the account disappears from discovery, its public pages go dark, and you'll get an email with the scheduled deletion date.

You'll be able to cancel at any point during the grace period. Sign back in, choose **Cancel deletion**, and everything resumes as it was — you'll just need to log in again, since deletion signs you out everywhere.

> **Note:**
>
> Once the grace period ends, deletion is permanent. Your data is purged and there is no restore path — not even through support. If you want a copy of your data, request a [data export](/docs/account/data-export) before the window closes.

## If you're the owner somewhere

Deleting your user will be blocked while you're the owner of any account that has other members — leaving would strand the team. Instead of deleting, you'll see a checklist of the accounts blocking you. For each one, either [transfer ownership](/docs/collaboration/teams-and-roles) to another member or delete that account first; once the list is empty, the same deletion goes through.

Your personal account never blocks you. It's included in your user's deletion automatically.

## What survives

Threads stay intact. Comments and votes you left on other people's [app pages](/docs/showcase/app-pages) won't vanish — they'll show **[deleted]** in place of your name, so conversations keep their context without keeping your identity.

Your handle will also be held for a while after deletion, so nobody can immediately claim it and impersonate you.

## Refunds

Deleting an account cancels its subscription. Annual subscriptions get the standard prorated refund — see [Billing](/docs/account/billing) for how the refund is computed and when it arrives.
